Milk Songs

Part of Abundant Futures – A Project Commissioned by ArtHouse Jersey

Discover Milk Songs, an immersive sound installation by dhaqan collective, exploring the intimate relationship between people, land, and animals. This evocative work is part of Abundant Futures, a long-term, socially engaged project led by Dana Olărescu in collaboration with contributing artists, academics, and organisations, including Kaajal Modi, Olha Pryymak, William Bock, Mariana Pinto Leitão Pereira, and Counterpoints.

Abundant Futures focuses on food justice, amplifying the insights and expertise within migrant communities and native populations on sustainable growing practices, soil regeneration, and food resilience in the face of the climate crisis. Through creative workshops, research interviews, and participant-led public sessions, the project highlights the rich knowledge and skills brought by individuals from diverse backgrounds.

By using food as a catalyst, Abundant Futures fosters new cultures of collaboration, honouring traditions while nurturing future generations. Milk Songs invites listeners to reflect on our deep connections to nature, agriculture, and community—an auditory journey that resonates with the project’s vision of resilience and shared wisdom.
